How we walk alongside you

Care that fits your person.

After a stroke, the weeks at home are where recovery is won or lost. A caregiver helps with the daily tasks that are suddenly hard, and keeps the therapy plan on track.

From safe transfers to meal prep for recovery diets, we steady the routine while your loved one heals.

Signs it may be time for stroke recovery support at home

  • Everyday tasks like dressing, bathing, or getting to the bathroom now take much longer or feel unsafe to do alone
  • The exercises and routines from the rehabilitation plan are slipping between visits because no one is at home to help follow them
  • Standing up, moving around the house, or getting in and out of a chair has become unsteady since coming home
  • Meals are being skipped or simplified, and keeping up with a recovery diet has become a struggle
  • Your loved one seems discouraged or withdrawn, and the family member doing the caring is worn thin trying to manage it all

Noticing one or two of these does not mean a decision has to be made today. It simply means it may be time for a conversation.

We send more than caregivers. We send good listeners, gentle hands, people who notice the small things: the favorite teacup, the afternoon light, the stories told twice and loved twice.

In-home support from Golden Touch, stroke recovery

The small things,
done with care.

Recovery after a stroke rarely moves in a straight line, and the hours between rehabilitation visits are often when steady help matters most. A Golden Touch caregiver keeps the day predictable, gently encourages the movements and routines the rehabilitation team has set, and lends a steady hand with the tasks that suddenly feel harder than they used to. That consistency, from the same familiar caregiver, can ease frustration and let your loved one put their energy where it belongs, on getting stronger.

Good questions

Stroke recovery questions Hartford families ask

How quickly can care begin after a stroke?

Care can often start within 24 hours, and even faster when your loved one is coming straight home from a hospital discharge. Call our Care Coordinator, who answers 24/7, and we will set up a free consultation and a start date that fits the homecoming. Our goal is to have a familiar caregiver in place before those first days at home get overwhelming.

How much does in-home stroke recovery support cost?

You will get a clear quote on your first call, with no guessing and no surprises. Families pay through private pay, long-term care insurance, VA benefits, and Medicaid, subject to verification, and we are glad to help you sort out which options may apply. There is a four-hour minimum per visit.

What if the caregiver isn't the right fit for my parent?

The right personality matters, especially during a demanding recovery. Golden Touch is a licensed, bonded, and insured Connecticut homemaker and companion agency, and every caregiver is carefully screened. If the match is not right, we will re-match your loved one with another caregiver at no charge.

Is this non-medical care?

Yes. Golden Touch is a non-medical homemaker and companion agency, so our caregivers focus on daily living, safety, mobility, meals, and companionship rather than hands-on health services. We help your loved one follow the routines their own doctors and rehabilitation team have set, and we coordinate closely with them, while any hands-on health care stays with your providers.

Can a caregiver help my parent keep up with rehabilitation exercises at home?

Yes, within our role. Your loved one's doctors and rehabilitation team set the plan, and our caregiver offers encouragement and a steady hand so the recommended walking, movements, and routines actually happen between visits. We do not direct or change the plan, we simply help your loved one follow it and keep each day safe and consistent.
