Home care in
Waterford, CT.
Waterford runs from Quaker Hill on the Thames down to Long Island Sound, a little over an hour from our Hartford office, and we are now taking families across the whole town.

Lawrence + Memorial Hospital on Montauk Avenue in New London is about two miles by road from Waterford Town Hall, so the ride home after a stay there is a short one. Waterford also has three rehab and long-term care centers of its own: Bayview Health Care on Rope Ferry Road, Greentree Manor on Greentree Drive, and New London Rehab and Care of Waterford on Clark Lane. None of those is a place a Golden Touch caregiver works. Our help starts at your parent's own door: getting washed and dressed, cooking, laundry, errands, reminders, and company for the hours nobody else can cover. Waterford is a new area for us, so it helps to know the discharge date early. Once we have it, we can tell you whether a caregiver is already lined up or has to be recruited first.
The town plan describes Waterford's housing as mostly owner-occupied single-family homes, with the apartment and other multi-family buildings near Route 1, where public water and sewer run. The older centers are small and easy to name. Jordan Village, around Rope Ferry Road and North Road, is mostly mid- and late-nineteenth-century houses. Graniteville, also along Rope Ferry Road, grew up as plain houses for quarry workers. Quaker Hill, in the northeast corner on the west bank of the Thames, has its own ZIP code and a historic district around Old Norwich Road. In a single-family house the trouble spots are usually the front step, the stairs and the tub, and those are the first things we would ask to see.
Waterford Senior Services is at 24 Rope Ferry Road. The town offers free curb-to-curb rides to residents 60 and over and to disabled adults on weekdays, booked ahead, with set days for grocery trips and errands. A caregiver can plan around that schedule instead of repeating it, leaving the shopping to the town ride and using the visit for bathing, meals and laundry. Senior apartments in town include Twin Haven on Mary Street, cottage-row units for residents 62 and older or with a disability who meet income limits, and AHEPA 250 II on Clark Lane. Atria Crossroads Place on Beechwood Drive offers assisted living for families weighing a move. On a good afternoon, a drive out to Harkness Memorial State Park on Long Island Sound can be part of a companion visit.
Getting to Waterford
Waterford Town Hall on Rope Ferry Road is 47.6 miles from our Park Street office, about 66 minutes on clear roads, out Route 2, down Route 11 and Route 85, then across on Cross Road and Route 1 to Rope Ferry Road. That is a little over an hour each way, and we plan Waterford visits with that drive in mind.

Questions from Waterford families.
We live in Quaker Hill. Is that really inside the area you serve, this far from Hartford?
Yes. Quaker Hill is part of Waterford, and we are available to serve the whole town, from Quaker Hill and Jordan Village to the streets along the Sound. Waterford is new ground for Golden Touch, so we may need to recruit the caregiver for your parent, and we would rather say so now than later. Once we know the hours you need, we will give you a realistic date for the first visit. Request a free consultation on (860) 393-1055.
How soon can a caregiver start in Waterford?
Waterford is newer ground for us, so we do not quote a start time before we have talked. On the first call we will tell you plainly how soon a caregiver can be in place for the hours you need, and if we cannot cover them, we will say so and point you to someone who can.
What does in-home care cost in Waterford?
Cost depends on the hours and level of care. Most families pay privately; long-term care insurance, VA benefits and Medicaid can help. You get a clear quote on your first call.
Can you provide 24-hour or live-in care in Waterford?
Live-in and around-the-clock care are part of what we offer, from one dedicated caregiver. For Waterford, tell us the hours you need on the first call and we will tell you honestly whether we can staff them.
Are your caregivers screened and insured?
Every caregiver is background-checked, bonded, insured and trained, and supervised by our Care Coordinator. If the match is not right, we re-match at no charge.
