In-home care in
New London County.
Golden Touch is now available to families in five New London County communities, from Colchester and Norwich down to Groton, Waterford and Mystic, and this page is honest about how far they are from our Hartford office.

New London County is still the name most people use for this corner of Connecticut, but it is a place name rather than a government. Connecticut disbanded its county governments in 1960, so services here come from each town and city, and the Census Bureau now counts the area as the Southeastern Connecticut Planning Region. The five communities on our list are quite different from one another. Norwich, the county's largest city, is older and hilly, and sits where the Thames River begins. Colchester, in the western part of the county along Route 2, is mostly single-family houses around a historic village green. Groton sits on the Thames River, Waterford is bordered on the west by the Niantic River, and Mystic, on the river of the same name, is shared between Groton and Stonington. For these five communities, most hospital stays end at Backus Hospital in Norwich or Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.
What we can offer anywhere in the county is the same non-medical help we give closer to Hartford: meals, bathing and dressing, reminders, companionship, errands, respite for a family caregiver, and live-in care. What we cannot promise yet is speed. We are new to this part of the state, the drive from Park Street runs from just over half an hour to Colchester to well over an hour to Mystic, and a schedule here may mean finding and matching a caregiver before the first visit. So the first call is where you get a straight answer on timing and hours, before anything is agreed, and if a discharge from Backus or Lawrence + Memorial is coming, the earlier we hear the date, the better.
