Home care in
Ellington, CT.
From the town green out to Crystal Lake, Ellington is newly on our map, and the first call is where you find out honestly what we can staff there.

The nearest hospitals are all outside Ellington: Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs to the northeast, Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester to the south, and the two large Hartford hospitals beyond that. Two rehab centers are a short drive away, Vernon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on Regan Road in Vernon, a few miles south of Town Hall, and Woodlake at Tolland on Shenipsit Lake Road. Once your parent is home, outpatient rehab can mean regular appointments, and a caregiver can drive there and back as part of a visit. The rest of the time, a non-medical caregiver takes on the ordinary day: washing and dressing, cooking, laundry, reminders, and company. Share the discharge date as soon as you have it.
Ellington has mostly been known as a farming town, and cattle and corn farming still go on here alongside the newer neighborhoods that came as the town grew. No Interstate runs through town, a large part of the east is Shenipsit State Forest, and the Crystal Lake section, out in the eastern panhandle, was for a while a summer resort. For a caregiver, that means errands are car trips, winter roads matter, and a visit is planned around the drive rather than a walk to the corner. Ellington Center, around the green and Hall Memorial Library, is the old center of town, with buildings from the late 1700s to the early 1900s. An older house there can mean steep stairs and a bathroom too small to turn a walker in, and we would want to see both before a schedule is set.
The Ellington Senior Center at 40 Maple Street is open to residents 55 and over and runs the Maple Street Cafe along with a full weekly calendar. Its curb-to-curb bus takes residents 60 and over to medical appointments, grocery shopping, local errands and senior center events, but rides have to be booked well in advance, riders must be independent or bring an adult aide or companion, and the drivers cannot help anyone in or out of the house. A caregiver can be that companion, or can drive your parent during a scheduled visit instead. Snipsic Village at 20 Main Street is the town's state-financed elderly housing, run by the Ellington Housing Authority, and if your parent lives there we would work around what the complex provides.
Getting to Ellington
Ellington Town Hall at 55 Main Street is 19.1 miles from our Park Street office, about 28 minutes on clear roads, out I-84 and then north on Route 83. No Interstate runs through Ellington itself, so the last stretch is always on state and town roads.

Questions from Ellington families.
The senior center bus has to be booked well in advance. Can a caregiver take my mother to appointments instead?
Yes. Driving your mother to appointments, the grocery store or the senior center, and staying with her door to door, is part of what a caregiver can do, and because the ride happens during a scheduled visit, it does not wait on the town bus's booking. Ellington is new ground for us, about half an hour from our Hartford office, so the right caregiver for her hours may still need to be found. When you call, we will tell you what is realistic for a start date before you plan around it. Request a free consultation on (860) 393-1055.
How soon can a caregiver start in Ellington?
Ellington is newer ground for us, so we do not quote a start time before we have talked. On the first call we will tell you plainly how soon a caregiver can be in place for the hours you need, and if we cannot cover them, we will say so and point you to someone who can.
What does in-home care cost in Ellington?
Cost depends on the hours and level of care. Most families pay privately; long-term care insurance, VA benefits and Medicaid can help. You get a clear quote on your first call.
Can you provide 24-hour or live-in care in Ellington?
Live-in and around-the-clock care are part of what we offer, from one dedicated caregiver. For Ellington, tell us the hours you need on the first call and we will tell you honestly whether we can staff them.
Are your caregivers screened and insured?
Every caregiver is background-checked, bonded, insured and trained, and supervised by our Care Coordinator. If the match is not right, we re-match at no charge.
